A/N : A sequel of my past one-shot fic “HOPE” i wrote this few days before Uchi's appeared in Kanjani8's Tokyo Dome concert on 5th August 2007. so i had no clue about his future at all, but as all my other fics, i'm writing this as NEWS fan's POV.
Two years …
No wait, was it really two years?
One year and ten months …
Almost two years …
Two long years …
“It is really that long? I haven’t seen him for almost two years!” Sugiyama Aya sunk into deep tears once again. She just watched the news on TV about the return of two NEWS members Uchi Hiroki and Kusano Hironori from their suspended period. It didn’t say they would back to their respective groups, but it was mentioned that they would join the yearly musical “PLAYZONE” with senpai group Shonentai. Her tears gave her blur vision of the images in TV, she couldn’t see well the written words but she saw his face … the face that she had missed for almost two years.
She walked toward her TV still in with teary eyes, she bent down and touched his face right in the TV screen.
“Hiroki …” she whispered his name and tears slowly dropped from her eyes again.
She couldn’t understand why the tears never stopped, she thought she was over him after all that happened. But no … she still loved him all the way … even that he already hurt her, or so she thought.
After the underage drinking scandal that Uchi caused in mid July 2005, she knew her relationship with him wouldn’t go smoothly. On the day of Uchi being sent back to Osaka to start his suspended period, he promised her that nothing would change between them, sure they would have long distance relationship, but she never thought it would be that hard to maintain such thing.
At first everything went so well, they kept in touch through phone calls and mails, but after a week, he never returned any of her calls or mails anymore, she felt confused with his change of behavior, but she tried to think positive and thought he must be stressed with his own situation and probably love was the last thing in his mind at that moment and she decided to give him more time.
But after a month passed, she started to question their relationship. She tried calling and she found out that he no longer used that number or the same mail address either, she thought to give up on him. But she realized she loved him too much that it hurt to see him avoiding her like that. She wanted a certain answer from him, she needed confirmation.

Aya’s mind went back to the scene almost two years ago. She was curious for losing his track. She asked Ryo but it turned out they didn’t keep in touch at all, Jimusho also restricted them to contact Uchi at any case. But after saw how desperate Aya was, he gave her his home address in Osaka, and without any doubt, Aya took the first Shinkansen there on the next day.
After asking directions and getting confused with the answers in kansaiben, she finally found his home. She stunned outside, started to think whether she did a right decision to come or not. She was still contemplating, when suddenly a voice made her back to reality.
“Hi, who you are looking for?” asked a young girl who was still wearing a high school uniform. She’s like a female version of Uchi, she must be his younger sister, kawaii na, thought Aya.
“Oh uhm, I-I’m looking for Uchi Hiroki.” finally Aya could speak out.
“Ohh, you are looking for oniichan! Let me ask okaasan first.” said the girl and went inside the house. Few moments later, a pretty woman whose face resembled Uchi and his sister opened the door.
“Yes?” his mother asked her.
“Ano, hajimemashite, I’m Sugiyama Aya from Tokyo, I’m looking for Hiroki.” Aya introduced herself with shaky voice, she was really nervous to meet his family.
“Ah Hiro just start working in Star combini this morning, you can wait in the house if you want.” answered his mother with gentle voice. Aya felt relieved she didn’t ask about relationship between them.
“Ahh I passed that combini on the way here, I will just go there myself, arigatou!”
“Doitashimashite!”
And just when Aya was ready to excuse herself, his mother said again, ”Ano Sugiyama-san, thank you for coming to check on Hiroki, but I have to tell you that he’s kinda change after the incident. My son was really down and he never stops blaming himself. But you know how bad rumors could go in the neighborhood. Today is the first day he ever stepped out from his bedroom.”
Suddenly Aya understood what’s behind of change of attitude, she didn’t realize how hard life that Uchi was facing after the incident, the gossip around nosy mothers in the neighborhood, the mocking comments towards him, mosquitoes press who never stopped coming bothering the house just to get any statement from him or his family. She felt sorry for him and regretted for being selfish all this time, she knew Uchi wasn’t a bad person at all, he just had a bad luck. And she as girlfriend should just supported him without questions.
“Arigatou, Uchi-san, I promise I won’t make him sad, I just want to give him a visit.”
“Do you want me to go with you?” asked his sister again.
“No thank you, I know the way. Thanks for everything.” Aya gave them a deep bow and left the house.

She finally arrived at Star combini after few minutes of walking from Uchi’s house. She entered the glass door and looked around, no sign of Uchi at all. She sighed, “Does his shift over already?”
She decided to ask the girl at the cashier counter about him when suddenly she felt a hand grabbed her shoulder from behind.
“Aya?” Uchi was shocked to see her in front of his eyes. Aya couldn’t help to feel surprise aswell, just in a month of time, Uchi had changed a lot, no more warm eyes, no more comfortable smile, and most important his body was much thinner than before.
“Hiroki … I …” Aya tried to explain only to be cut by his loud voice.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?”
“I-I was worried, you never return my calls or mails, I understand you face a lot of troubles, but don’t avoid me, what did I do wrong, Hiroki?” her voice started to shake as tears started to form in her eyes.
“Aya, you did nothing wrong, it’s my fault, I-I need more time …” his voice softened.
“We can work it out, Hiroki.”
“No, I think we should just end this. I don’t deserve you, Aya!” Uchi frowned in frustration.
“But why?” demanded Aya, she didn’t want to end their relationship, she loved him too much.
Suddenly the girl from the cashier counter with the same uniform as Uchi walked to them and held his hand. Uchi didn’t let go.
“Hiro, daijoubu? Who is she?” asked the girl. Uchi didn’t answer anything, and his action made Aya grew angry and of course jealous. She couldn’t believe Uchi could treat her that way.
“Fine! I know the reason now. Hope two of you are happy!” she stormed out the combini with tears flowing in her face. Uchi didn’t chase her, he just stood there silently.
“Hiro, why didn’t you chase her? She must have a wrong idea about us! Go explain!” said Hanako, the name of the girl who worked together with him in the combini, who happened to be his cousin.
“It’s ok, Hana-chan, it’s better this way, I’m useless now, she deserves someone better than me. I’m no longer an idol.” sighed Uchi and got back working. The incident really affected him, he lost his confident and thought he wouldn’t make her happy with his current state and decided to let her go and wished her to find another happiness.

Aya finally found her seat on the opening day of “PLAYZONE” musical. She didn’t tell anyone that she went there, not even to her best friend Michi. For almost two years she covered her sorrow well, she pretended that her break-up with Uchi didn’t affect her at all, and said to Michi she wasn’t serious with him at the first place. She even dated random guys just to show that she moved on with her life. Of course Michi didn’t believe that, she knew well that Aya still loved him the most, she just didn’t want people to feel pity at her. So Michi decided to stay silent, she still tried though, she offered Aya the best seat for the musical, but she refused, saying that she already have a date for that day. Michi gave up, sometimes Aya could be so stubborn like that.
The truth was Aya still couldn’t forget him at all. She actually never had any dates with those guys, she just asked them to pick her up, and then they went on separated way, so it was all made up. She didn’t care if people judged her as easy girl. She rather kept her sadness by herself, she didn’t need any sympathies.
She lowered her head down, so people couldn’t see her face, she didn’t want Michi, Ryo or other NEWS members that she knew recognized her. She sat silently, she just wanted to see him … yes, after two years, she just wanted to see him again.

The curtain finally rose up in Tokyo Aoyama Theatre, she pushed aside all her thoughts and decided to concentrate on the musical. She waited and waited until she caught a figure that she missed the most finally showed up on the stage.
That’s him …
Uchi Hiroki …
He’s really back …
He’s not changed at all …
Though his physical might change …
No more short neat brownish hair …
No more skull figure …
But everything else remains the same …
His warm beautiful eyes …
His comfortable and friendly smile …
His cute lips …
His uniquely singing voice …
Nothing has changed …
Without she realized it, tears started to trail down on her face. He really did his best and performed with all his heart. Everyone who watched the musical that night was touched with the return of Uchi and Kusano. Laughs and tears mixed in everyone’s faces. Especially when they made their first ever speech in public, regretting and asking forgiveness for any mistakes they made. And they truly meant it, it’s shown all over in their determined faces.
Aya was satisfied to see his face again after two long years, she didn’t expect anything on him, she was glad that Uchi already walked his own way back on the track. But on her way back home, she couldn’t help to linger about the chorus part of the “All the way” song.

A day after the musical had finished, the whole NEWS gathered again in Haven Café, where Michi used to work. They were celebrating Uchi & Kusano’s returned from their suspended period. They waited for the honored guests to show up, first was Kusano …
“Notty!!” Tegoshi was the first one who welcomed him with a big hug.
“Tesshi, minna!! Tadaimaa!!” exclaimed Kusano happily.
“Okaeri Kusano!” chorused the other NEWS members. Yamapi welcomed him with the special hand-sign they used to have, Koyama and Shige gave him high-five, Massu offered him chicken wings and Ryo patted him on the shoulder.
“Ehh where are the girls?” confused Kusano after seeing only guys in their table.
“They are on their way here. Akane and Miharu said Michi has something to do first and they decided to wait for her.”explained Yamapi and sipped his coffee without pouring anything extra on it.
“Notty, where’s Uchi-kun?” asked Tegoshi curiously.
“Also on his way here, he took a long bath, so I’m tired to wait for him and decided to go first, I miss you guys!!”
“I don’t miss you.” Ryo’s evil tongue was in action again, but he grinned afterwards.
“Boo, I don’t believe you!” Kusano stuck out his tongue to Ryo. Everyone laughed at their antics, nothing has changed after all.
A few minutes later, Uchi finally arrived and got the same warm welcome from the guys, plus a little extra hug from Ryo.
“Uchi, you look great with your new hair.” commented Koyama.
“Yeah, I miss my old long black hair, thanks to you!” pouted Yamapi.
“Haha, Yamapi and Shige look cool with the mohawk hair too! Eeehh, Tegoshi, you changed a lot!! Are you dieting?” surprised Uchi when he turned to Tegoshi.
“Chigau yo, I went to the gym and run every night to keep in shape.” grumbled Tegoshi, just because he lost some weight, people thought he was dieting.
“Souka, I can’t have diet either.”
“You don’t need one!! Have you tried the new sandwich? It’s very delicious!” Massu butted in.
“Massu, you don’t change a bit!” laughed Uchi, how he missed his fellow members, but there’s someone he missed the most. And it’s HER. He began to regret his decision, on the opening day, he thought he saw her among of audiences, but he could be hallucinating, so he didn’t look out for her and concentrated on the musical until it’s finished.
“Nee Uchi, Johnny-san hasn’t told you about the next plan for you both?” asked Ryo suddenly.
“Sadly, not yet, Ryo-chan, but Kusano and I will still stay in Jimusho, we will continue working hard.” answered Uchi optimistically followed by Kusano’s nod.
“Souka, for us, both of you are still part of NEWS.” said Yamapi with a smile.
“Arigatou minna!” chorused Uchi and Kusano. They continued to chit-chat, catching up with the news until the door was opened. Three girls rushed inside.
“Osoii yo!” barked Ryo to the girls. And they all ignored him. They greeted Uchi and Kusano, congratulated them for their return and received sincere thanks for their kind words and support.
“Uchi-kun, I have a surprise for you!” whispered Michi to Uchi.
“Ehh nani? My birthday is still in couple of days!” puzzled Uchi to his Tokyo oneechan.
“Well, you can say it’s an early birthday present then, follow me!” instructed Michi with mischievous smile pasted on her face.
“Ehh I feel uneasy! Ryo-chan, help!” begged Uchi as Michi actually dragged him outside the café after blindfolded his eyes with her scarf. Ryo just laughed and raised his shoulder, he knew the plan and he didn’t want to ruin it. Michi never keep secrets with him, that’s what make their relationship could last that long. The girls knew as well, but the remain parties were clueless and started to try peeping from the window only to get a deadly glare from Ryo and made them retreated back to their seats.
Outside the café, the chilly autumn breeze already made him cold a bit, and the blindfold really annoyed him. Michi told him to stand still and wait for her next instruction. Uchi began to feel tired, he’s too old for this kind of game.
“Hai, you can open the blindfold now!” he could hear Michi’s voice from a far. He slowly took down the scarf from his eyes only to see a girl that he wanted to see the most right in front of him.
“A-Aya?”
“Hiroki, okaeri!” smiled Aya. Uchi couldn’t hold back anymore, he embraced her and brushed her hair affectingly.
“I miss you Aya!”
“Me too!” as she broke into tears.
“I’m sorry, so sorry, I was so cold to you in Osaka, and didn’t explain the girl is my cousin Hanako. I was coward, I couldn’t face you in my weakest condition, Aya!”
“It’s okay Uchi, we can start all over again.” reassured Aya between her sobs.
“I love you, Aya!” declared Uchi and planted a little soft kiss in her lips.
“I love you too!” blushed Aya after he broke the kiss.
“Do you know the song that Kusano and I sang in the musical?” he gently asked.
“Yes, it’s a beautiful song. I love it.”
Uchi started singing in her ear with his soft voice.

After finished singing, he said again, “I dedicated that song only for you, Aya!” she reminded speechless, she never felt so happy in her life before. And Uchi felt the same way, although his future in Jimusho hasn’t been decided. He decided to keep fighting and working hard with the support with all people that he cherishes the most.

He began to regret his decision, on the opening day, he thought he saw her among of audiences, but he could be hallucinating, so he didn’t look out for her and concentrated on the musical until it’s finished.
“Nee Uchi, Johnny-san hasn’t told you about the next plan for you both?” asked Ryo suddenly.
“Sadly, not yet, Ryo-chan, but Kusano and I will still stay in Jimusho, we will continue working hard.” answered Uchi optimistically followed by Kusano’s nod.
“Souka, for us, both of you are still part of NEWS.” said Yamapi with a smile.
“Arigatou minna!” chorused Uchi and Kusano. They continued to chit-chat, catching up with the news until the door was opened. Three girls rushed inside.
“Osoii yo!” barked Ryo to the girls. And they all ignored him. They greeted Uchi and Kusano, congratulated them for their return and received sincere thanks for their kind words and support.
“Uchi-kun, I have a surprise for you!” whispered Michi to Uchi.
“Ehh nani? My birthday is still in couple of days!” puzzled Uchi to his Tokyo oneechan.
“Well, you can say it’s an early birthday present then, follow me!” instructed Michi with mischievous smile pasted on her face.
“Ehh I feel uneasy! Ryo-chan, help!” begged Uchi as Michi actually dragged him outside the café after blindfolded his eyes with her scarf. Ryo just laughed and raised his shoulder, he knew the plan and he didn’t want to ruin it. Michi never keep secrets with him, that’s what make their relationship could last that long. The girls knew as well, but the remain parties were clueless and started to try peeping from the window only to get a deadly glare from Ryo and made them retreated back to their seats.
Outside the café, the chilly autumn breeze already made him cold a bit, and the blindfold really annoyed him. Michi told him to stand still and wait for her next instruction. Uchi began to feel tired, he’s too old for this kind of game.
“Hai, you can open the blindfold now!” he could hear Michi’s voice from a far. He slowly took down the scarf from his eyes only to see a girl that he wanted to see the most right in front of him.
“A-Aya?”
“Hiroki, okaeri!” smiled Aya. Uchi couldn’t hold back anymore, he embraced her and brushed her hair affectingly.
“I miss you Aya!”
“Me too!” as she broke into tears.
“I’m sorry, so sorry, I was so cold to you in Osaka, and didn’t explain the girl is my cousin Hanako. I was coward, I couldn’t face you in my weakest condition, Aya!”
“It’s okay Uchi, we can start all over again.” reassured Aya between her sobs.
“I love you, Aya!” declared Uchi and planted a little soft kiss in her lips.
“I love you too!” blushed Aya after he broke the kiss.
“Do you know the song that Kusano and I sang in the musical?” he gently asked.
“Yes, it’s a beautiful song. I love it.”
Uchi started singing in her ear with his soft voice.

After finished singing, he said again, “I dedicated that song only for you, Aya!” she reminded speechless, she never felt so happy in her life before. And Uchi felt the same way, although his future in Jimusho hasn’t been decided. He decided to keep fighting and working hard with the support with all people that he cherishes the most.
