[The party at Kurain Village is a moderately small affair. There are balloons (Maya's idea) hung on either side of the door into Fey Manor, and when the guests arrive, they'll be directed through the building and into a small garden

[Mikaela had arrived early, as she'd promised, and had a hand in setting up. There hadn't been much in the way of decorations, so she'd mostly helped carry food around and set it up on the table--carefully! She hadn't wanted to risk the cute little sundress she was wearing.
Now she was sampling some of that food, nibbling on a plate of fruit and wandering around the garden, looking at the flowers.]
[Pearl had moved from her position at the door by now when she realised that she hadn't thanked Mikaela at all yet for helping to set up the party. She wandered over, a huge smile on her face when she saw her friend looking at the flowers. She'd watered those especially this morning to make sure they looked just right.]
"Thank you for helping to set up the party, Mikaela!"
"Oh, you're welcome, sweetie." [Mikaela turned and smiled at her.] "This garden is so pretty, it's, like, the perfect place to have one!" [Which she'd probably said when they were setting up, but it really was a lovely place, so she didn't mind saying it again.]
Pearls smiled widely when she saw Maraich there. It had been so long since she last saw him, so she was really glad that he'd made it! If anything though, her eyes quickly became wider than her smile when she saw the huge cargo of presents that he had in tow.
"Are those really all for me?" she breathed in surprise as she ran up to him.
Edgeworth looked quite clearly out of place. Not so much for his style of dress--the purple of his polo was a bit bold, but the dark khaki pants he wore it with were of a simple cut. No, it was his behavior that made him stand out, the furtive way he was surveying his surroundings and the uncomfortable stiffness in his back.
He paused just inside the entrance to the garden, taking in the unfamiliar faces and unconsciously fiddling with the corner of the long, perfectly wrapped box tucked under his arm.
If Edgeworth's behaviour was a little odd, then Pearl didn't take much notice of it. After all, she was used to him acting that way by now, and knew that it seemed to be especially common when he was at somewhere like a party. But maybe if she got him to relax a little, he'd enjoy himself more, right?
She ran up to him happily, calling his name. "Mr. Edgeworth! You really did come!" she beamed.
The voice was familiar, and it immediately drew his wandering attention. He watched the girl's approach, his obvious nervousness softening only slightly as he greeted her with a polite nod.
"It would appear so," he muttered, still glancing a bit furtively around the garden.
Pearl's smile faded slightly as she saw Edgeworth's expression. Was he really still worried about something? Maybe he thought that her party was going to be ruined by people from the community, like he'd said earlier?
"Mr. Edgeworth?" she asked, worried. "What's wrong?"
Karen had also helped set up! Her present (a couple of books she'd thought Pearl would enjoy) was waiting to be opened. Karen herself was making a few last-minute adjustments to some of the balloons.
Pearl managed to slip away from the entrance in between the guests arriving and made a beeline for Karen. She had to thank her for helping to make everything look so good, after all.
"The balloons look really great," she smiled at her friend. "Thank you so much for helping!"
Karen smiled. "You're welcome. I'm glad you like them." She glanced around. "I was a little worried we wouldn't be ready in time, but it looks like we made it."

But he managed, and brought a tiny pink cake, too. He was going to make sure things turned out good for her.

He pulled his kids out of the stroller to let them run around a bit, "We'll have to get everyone together to sing happy birthday."
