Curses are a form of magic that has long-lasting effects, rather than the instantaneous ones of a flame spell or the like. They affect the victim in many different ways depending on the specific curse, but to be considered a 'curse' it generally has to be negative. Common curses are an inability to focus, one that is particularly useful in battle, and an inability to sleep, which is more generally used when you just don't like someone.

Oh no, not to me, I'm fine! But there was a strange video posted to the community that I think might be cursed. It's got some powerful spiritual energy around it, and not of the good kind.
