Is this one of the circumstances in which the bank has to reimburse you?

I don't know. I find it hard to construe that the bank has done anything wrong, but maybe I need to think that through.

This is precisely why I refuse to use direct debit for anything, including cell phone, electric, gas, taxes, internet and tv invoices. Call me old fashioned, but cut a check for these services when invoiced. If the invoice is incorrect, I at least have some leverage when asking these suppliers to re-invoice me correctly.

If I had time to write a dozen cheques every month, I'd have more than enough time to reconcile my bank statement ....
