Stupid LJ.
Anyway, all I was trying to say is that you should write what makes you happy. If writing in that genre makes you happy, do it. The important part is having a good story to tell.... if you've got that, then it will transcend the genre anyway.
Oh- and Jimmy really is the most disgusting worm of a dog ever. I know that's harsh, but it's also unbelievably true.

anyway- think about all the great science fiction writers that were able to transcend (i'm borrowing the word from sarah) their genre- neil gaiman, clive barker (sometimes), ray bradbury, isaac asimov (early stuff), jules vernes (i can't really remember how to spell or say his name), gene hackman, ben stiller, jimmy.
there is really great stuff out there that isn't so campy, you know.
