Where'd you hear that? I'm afraid I'd have to disagree.

From the sound of the lyrics, it would seem that a "hollaback girl" is one, presumably female, who is the victim of verbal attack (though behind her back) and "returns the favor". Instead of retorting with another verbal enslaught, Ms. Stefani chooses a more neanderthal method of meeting with her antagonist with some "fisticuffs". Most likely by the bleachers.
