Be critical in reading the Da Vinci Code. It's terrible history and written as hypothetical fiction. It should not be taken literally.

In some Native American cultures, telling lies about the past was punishable by death. This is because they had an oral record of history passed down through generations. It's interesting to think about, since history should be recorded as accurately as possible. Books like that one may be entertaining, but are troubling when taken seriously by large groups of people.

Thanks for the warning. I'm reading it soley for the purpose of entertainment. It's a really suspenseful book and I liked it.

Although, I always read critically.
You've got to read a lot more than one book to get the full story, especially if the books you are reading are mostly fiction.

Props to the Native Americans. I would really appreciate it if a lot more cultures valued the accurate recording of history that way.
