At ASU, you only got a TAship if you were studying US history, meaning that the TAs for the medieval classes I took as an undergrad were Americanists.

So guess what I'll be TAing here at Toronto this next year?

Making the Americas, c. 1250 - 1780.

I used to have to correct the TA in the medieval Europe classes I took at ASU. I still remember arguing with her about the placement on a map of things like Canterbury and Jarrow (despite working in Canterbury for a while, and coming from just down the coast from Jarrow). Then there was the time I had to explain that the Danube stretched all the way to the Black Sea, and wasn't just located in Austria...
