Boasting about Dan YET again

Today he read THREE books. Real ones.

Admittedly, the books were first readers, not the works of Shakespeare.  Here is the text of one, for your further enlightenment:

Run, Rat, run!

Rat met Cat,
Run, Rat, run!
Cat met Dog.
Run, Cat, run!
Dog met Pig.
Run, Dog, run!
Rat hid! Cat hid! Dog hid...
...in a red hut!
Pig ran in!
(at this point, all the animals jump

Why is the dog scared of a pig? Is it a very small dog?
