dude, i took art appreciation and i didn't like it because of that reason- every other week we would have these stupid assignments like "draw your hand!" um, i took the class to "appreciate" other people's art, not make art. and i didn't know you were taking classes this semester. hopefully you're not required to take too much stuff before memphis.
