Admittedly, I probably do not always do enough research to avoid this little issue when writing fanfic, but I usually do try. (Then again, pretty much all of my stuff is AU anyway, so dodging that bullet right there! ;) :)
...There are some things that will cause me to rage out, though, and very blatant anti-canon with an author who doesn't even care they're violating such for no good reason will put me there, too. (I will forgive a lot when it's being sacrificed on the altar of plot, but there'd better be a darned good reason for it, and awesome fic at the end of it all, is all I'm sayin'. *nods*) I guess I may tend to give benefit of the doubt when it's good plot more easily, without an AN to sooth the beast, than you do, also-admittedly. ...probably because I usually assume that something's AU unless tagged otherwise; seeing something tagged as canon-compliant with that sort of mistake is liable to leave me gnawing the furniture though! ^_^;;;
