I just got back from watching the new Star Trek movie.

As expected, it was a visual feast (except the dumb-ass cavernous cargo bay in the Romulan ship with its narrow walkways without railings, which reminded me of dumb-ass video games), but the opening "going into labor in the middle of an emergency"-sequence, complete with that totally out-of-

My overall verdict: Star Wars meets Galaxy Quest!
LOL!!

OMG I have to tell that to the friend I went to see it with. We both loved it to bits, all the while acknowledging it was a damn good thing we'd had low expectations because, yeah, plot devices and holes and general Galaxy Questing up the green yinyang :D :D :D

I don't mind mindless movies in general - only when they use visual effects in an attempt to distract from the fact that they borrowed shamelessly from mindless classics. :D

Star Trek has never been noted for good acting nor significant character development (at least, not in the TOS cast). But, really, don't hold back, tell us what you REALLY think! You must overcome this reticence... :D

Er, yes? Isn't that what one watches Star Trek for?

Well, I guess expecting at least an attempt at originality from an origins movie was expecting too much...
