Wow...LJ finally got out of the naughties with the mobile livejournal site. I might actually post on a regular basis now. Who am I kidding? College students don't have time to do anything but study. My poor neglected projects still have not had any progress made on them. My blender 3D model still has no hair. my writing has pretty much ( Read more... )

Nice timing on the post, as I happened to actually log in to LJ myself in time to see it. :) What are you going to school for? You mentioned Blender3d, which is something I'm working with too (attempting to make models for my 3d not-quite-game thingy), so I'm curious what you're working on. Hope all it well.

Trying to finally knock ou me Electrical Engineering undergrad. As for blender...trying to model a coule of rigged toons to make an online comic easier....that was the theory at any rate. A friend of mine has sketched out backgrounds in cad. So once I finish the models we can l plug them in, start rendering.. and finish the finals in photoshop. Not quite game? :)

Heh, well, I spent most of my Master's degree studying "game design" (really), so I've spent a *lot* of time discussing what games are and what they aren't. Current project is "game-like" in that it will be a 3d world to explore, and there will be health and death and such, but it lacks things like goals and objectives. It's more of a "narrative space", although I haven't quite figured out the story it's telling yet. There may end up being goals that I'm currently unaware of...I'm taking a very artist-like mentality for this project. We'll see if it works.

Rigged models for making a comic, hmm. May well be easier in the end, but the modelling and rigging will probably be a lot of work up front. (Have done 3d modelling, and a bit of rigging in the past. Enjoy both, but sometimes a *lot* of work.) I guess that's what projects are for tho. :)
