Dear Festividder
Festividder, I say the same thing every year which is ANYTHING YOU WANT for any of these fandoms will make me happy! I love all these fandoms and have pretty varied taste in music so I don't want to put any guidelines or limit your creativity one bit. But here are some ideas about why I requested them if you're looking for inspiration.
3rd Rock From the Sun [TV]
I request this almost every year and probably will keep requesting it until someone vids it, which might just be forever. XD If it helps I'll even say that, while still not a safety, you could easily limit it to the first couple of seasons and not the entire run of the show (even my nostalgic ass knows it got less-enjoyably weird by the end). What I find stupidly charming about this show is the Solomons as an unlikely found-family in the midst of the whole trying-to-figure-out-humans thing.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend [TV]
As with a lot of musical-comedy fandoms, this might be HARD but I would prefer not vidding a song from the actual show? I definitely came around to shipping Rebecca/Greg in spite of initially fearing it would go in a Nice Guy direction, but mostly I ship Rebecca/Figuring Herself Out. Alternately, I would not say no to a Darryl/White Josh or even a Valencia vid! (She is the princess/Kate Hudson of the story, after all.) Anything that gets the fun vibes of the show.
Drop Dead Fred [Movie - SAFETY]
This is a not-quite-appropriate-for-kids movie I loooved as a kid and surprisingly still holds up for me. If this wasn't our match and you're curious, it's a 1991 fantasy(?)/comedy about a woman whose childhood imaginary friend reappears and wreaks havoc in her life. There's something sweet and surprisingly deep at the heart of it and I like the character arc that Lizzie goes through and her love/hate relationship with Fred.
Luke Cage [TV]
SHADES AND MARIAH. SHADES AND MARIAH. MARIAH AND SHADES. *ahem* So, shockingly or not, Mariah Dillard quickly emerged as my favorite character and even gave me a new Villain OTP coming out of this show. A vid centered on her or both of them would make me very happy. But if that doesn't float your boat, a more general vid or one centered on Misty Knight (!) would also be really cool!
Monster Factory [Web]
Not even sure how you'd go about vidding this, but! Monster Factory is a YouTube series by Griffin and Justin McElroy, two brothers who capture their adventures ruining video games from the inside -- mostly by doing horrifying things with character customization and sometimes by using mods to further mess with what's possible in the game. You could probably do a vid on their three-part Fallout 4 saga starring The Final Pam alone, or a compilation of their many sons & creations. (Some highlights for me are The Pebble, Boy-Mayor of Second Life, Truck Shepard, and Borth Sampson.)
RPF - Gene Wilder [Movie, TV, Performance, Other]
Because I guess I just want to feel SAD but also smile, I decided to request this. Tbh the way a lot of people reacted to Bowie and Prince this year, I did to Gene Wilder - as a comedic actor he'd been kind of a formative icon for me growing up (and I admit I had a weird retro-crush on him and those freakin' kind eyes at one point), someone who could alternately be OTT manic and ridiculous but also soft-spoken and deadpan. My favorite of his movies are The Producers and Willy Wonka. You can either stick to his film performances or widen it to real-life interviews/footage (appearances from Gilda would make me extra-cry).
Transparent [TV]
I love the nuances of this show and how no character is fully likable but also not unsympathetic. Ali is my favorite character, and also love Maura despite the unfortuante-ness of being played by a cis actor. The use of flashbacks in each season and how it's connected the characters across generations is also really interesting to me. Basically I'd be happy with a vid on one character or an ensemble Pfefferman vid dealing with the themes (and sometimes beautiful visuals) of the show.
Veep [TV]
This was something I decided to nominate last minute and then realized how much I really did want to request it. :) I don't have much to really get into here, I just binge-watched it recently and thought it might be fun to see a vid! While Selina is awful/great, I would rather see something with the whole ensemble and people around her. *Especially* Gary who is a cinnamon roll and I love his inexplicable devotion to Selina. Some kind of Amy or Jonah-centric vid would also be great. (I lowkey ship Dan with either/both of them.)
