Kitty food area

I was writing another post about my weekend and got way off track talking about my cat, so I decided to just pull that section out and make a separate entry. Under the cut includes a link to an amazing aRt of my bedroom, that I just created in Paint, so I suggest you check it out!!

So, this new house and living situation posed a little bit of a unique challenge in terms of feeding my cat (without Tanner stealing it all). Previously, I have been able to utilize spare bathrooms or closets, thanks to bathroom counters or baby gates. None of the above were really options at this house, so for the first week or so I was moving the poor cat's dishes all over every day trying to find the right place. Tanner knocked it over in several places because he is an evil hungry beagle. The good news is that I finally have a set-up that is working great, though it cracks me up to see Willis use it because he has turned it into a mini adventure expedition.

I ended up putting his food and water on top of my ~4' dresser. The dresser is positioned perpendicular to my desk, so I figured the cat would just hop up on the desk (since he does all the time anyway x_x ) and then hop over to his food.

Apparently this was a little too straightforward, because this is what he does: he walks into the room and walks all the way around my bed, over to the far wall. From this far wall, he is able to hop a couple feet up to my headboard. He pads across the top of the headboard, which takes him to the back/far side of the desk. He then gingerly - or not so gingerly - climbs over my alarm clock, stack of books, papers, eyeglasses, chapstick, you get the idea, and then continues to pick his way across the rest of the desk - around the speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. Only THEN is he finally at the near side of the desk, from where he can jump on to the dresser.

Amusingly, he doesn't usually take the whole trek around the room to get down. He just jumps back to the desk, and then to the floor. Probably this would be much better illustrated with photos of my room, but I don't have a camera.

omg EDIT... I totally went crazy in paint and created my bedroom!!! looook! The orange kitty paw prints show the path he takes to his food. I just think its hilarious that I've basically inadvertently set up a whole kitty obstacle course for him to get to his dinner each night.

This concludes an actual entire entry dedicated to the way that my cat gets to his food.

This is what staying up all night and then going to work at 5am can do to a person.
