I got a phone call this morning after I posted. A friend's husband died last night. At 47. They've got 2 kids - 16 and 14. He dropped dead from an aneurysm.

And I'm bitching about cats. Jesus, I'm petty at times.

I'm so sorry about your friend. That must have been an awful shock to his friends and family.

It doesn't mean you're not allowed to bitch about cats. The addition of two cats to your household is actually a pretty big change, and one you didn't particularly ask for. Why shouldn't you moan about it? Your priorities changed after the phone call but that doesn't mean it was wrong in the first place.

Exactly what I was going to say but two people beat me to it.

If everybody felt inhibited from writing about their problems because they think they're small compared to others', then nobody would write anything because there's always somebody worse off then yourself.

Writing stuff in a blog helps me feel better; I feel I'm entitled to that. That may come across as selfish, but I don't think it is because it really doesn't effect anybody else, for good or ill.

At the same time, nobody with human feelings would write some kind of "OMG, I broke a nail!" post after hearing news like that. But you posted your, quite legitimate, cat gripes yesterday, before you knew. I think you've got nothing to feel petty about.
