Kevin didn't care for Kibum's message at the time because he instantly recognized the room.
It's not hard to think that Kevin isn't as innocent as the TV makes him out to be. They all live in a dorm with Soohyun and "mr.adult jockey".
I think I posted that Kevin recognized a picture of Kibum with his dog in the background. That's how he figured out who he was paired with.
Talking with Kevin sure made Kibum more "relaxed".
