Note: I remember talking to a friend a few months ago about a Halloween SA fic. This was supposed to be supernatural but I suck at that, so here's some fluff instead! It's a bit early, but the whole month is basically Halloween... so Happy Halloween! (Oh, and some Childminder feels LOL) Dedicated to said friend,
sushi4ever Mari-san! :3 Also... I've noticed something. It's been 2 months since I wrote something for Sakuraba? Oh gosh.
"Come on, Sho-chan! Just for tonight! It's Halloween after all! Please?" Masaki pleaded, even had his hands clasped together, "Pretty please?"
Sho sighed, neatly folding his newspaper before setting it down; he watched at the other who sat beside him, and it amused him a bit to see Masaki like that. Still, he won't give in that easily. The man's request was very, very odd to begin with, so instead he asked:
"Why do you want to go trick-or-treating anyway? We're grown men already!"
"No, you have it all wrong, Sho-chan!" said Masaki, letting out a little giggle as well. Sho flushed, but remained collected---tried to look like it, at least; he then asked again why.
The younger male sat up properly then started rambling on. After twenty seconds or so into Masaki's explanation, Sho's thoughts drifted off into something else, and found himself just staring at his friend throughout the story. He snapped out of his trance only when the other asked again if he'd be helping out.
"Ah--," Sho fumbled for his words but couldn't think of anything decent to say. Masaki's hopeful smile faded, but before the latter could say something about his request, Sho answered without really knowing what was about to happen that night. "Sure. But I'm only doing it for the candy."
Not only did it make Masaki's smile widen a lot more, but it made him laugh as well. And Sho pushed aside his thoughts and decided that his mind only wandered because of the recent news he'd read through... despite him only getting to read the horoscopes for that day. (Read his sign's "lucky color of the day" was green---coincidentally the color the man he's with was wearing at the moment.)
"Koharu-chan and Mizuki-chan will be so happy!" Masaki exclaimed, then got up from Sho's couch. "See you around 8 PM, my apartment, then!"
He merely nodded then waved his friend off at his front door. The moment he closed the door, he muttered, "What?"
-
"Koharu-chan, Mizuki-chan, meet Sakurai Sho-chan," Masaki introduced him to the kids then crouched down while he just stood there at the threshold of the other's apartment, smiling awkwardly at the kids. One of the little girls was grinning up at him while the other was staring at Masaki. "Call him Sho-nii, alright?"
His friend then looked up at him, "Sho-chan, meet Koharu," he pointed towards the one who was staring at him, before pointing at the other, "And Mizuki. They're the kids of our neighbors,"
"Mom and Dad went on a trip!" Mizuki said, which made Sho's smile turn genuine. The little girls were really cute and seem really nice. He crouched down, bowed his head a bit, then introduced himself, even though Masaki had already done it just a moment ago. After introductions were made, the latter let him in and excused himself and the other girls to go change into their costumes. The thought only hit him that he wasn't wearing a costume when he sat down on Masaki's couch.
He was about to go knock on the bedroom door when it opened, a laughing Masaki appeared, costume in hand, and then closed the door behind him. They met gazes, and Masaki rubbed his head before saying: "They kicked me out. Said they're big girls already,"
"You seem close with them," said Sho, immediately adding, "But--er, I'm not wearing a costume,"
"It's fine, you don't have to, Sho-chan," Masaki replied before walking past the couch with Sho's gaze following him; he stopped when he was near the bathroom, turned to look at back, then said, "You're doing it for the candies, after all," Sho snickered when his friend tried winking at him, then waved a hand as if it's his way of saying that he should hurry up.
When the two girls came out of the bedroom---Koharu wearing a Princess costume and Mizuki wearing a Vampire one---the three of them engaged in conversation about scary stories (told by Mizuki herself), and candies they'd get later that night. Koharu, as Sho had noticed since the first he'd saw her, was very shy, and would only nod and answer a few words when talked to.
"Let's go!" A beaming Masaki said the moment he came out of the bathroom. He was wearing a Vampire costume too---it seemed they were supposed to be a Vampire family but Koharu wanted to be a Princess---and Sho did the best he could not to die laughing there... or to stare too much. Masaki even had fake fangs on which made his words a bit difficult to comprehend.
Even so, Sho thought to himself as he, Masaki and the two little girls walk around the neighborhood, slicked back hair sure suits him.
-
"Masa-nii told me that you like candies," Koharu said to him suddenly, took his hand then placed a few candies on his palm. Mizuki, who he was paired with to go trick-or-treating at a different house, peeked at what her sister had given him, then immediately placed some candies on his palm too.
"Ah--well, er-- thanks, Koharu-chan," he grinned, completely forgotten his "reason" for tagging along, "Mizuki-chan too, of course," he added, slightly ruffling the little girl's hair, making her show her fangs at him before giggling. Sho asked Koharu where Masaki was, and she pointed at the man currently waiting at the front door of a house to ask for treats; apparently oblivious that the other person he was with was missing from his side. He took note that he should lecture him about keeping an eye on the little girls, and continued watching him. As soon as the door opened, Masaki then noticed that Koharu was missing then immediately freaked out. The view made him smile, amused at his friend. The latter saw them after a few seconds of looking around. Sho waved at him and he waved back before accepting the candy and leaving.
"Man, you should keep an eye on them, you know?" Sho teasingly said, Masaki grinned, making him stare at the fangs and thought how oddly they looked good on him. He pushed those thoughts away almost immediately and asked Mizuki-chan to keep his candies safe for the meanwhile.

He noticed that Koharu has warmed up to him since she asked to pair with him instead of Masaki when they reached their last two houses before heading back to Masaki's apartment. Once they were done, the both of them had to carry the tired little girls on their way back since they managed to walk a few blocks further than planned. Surprisingly Koharu picked him, which made Masaki smirk at him while they walk.
"Koharu seems to like you, Sho-chan,"
"Mhm..." Sho smiled, "she finally warmed up to me,"
"Thanks for doing this," Masaki said in a hushed tone, glancing at the sleeping girl who had her chin on his shoulder. "You can have my candies. I don't really eat much of-"
"...Idiot," Sho muttered, a smile appearing on his face.
"Sho-chan's always so helpful," Masaki replied, and added, "And I'm glad because... I really wanted to spend Halloween with you,"
The two of them suddenly stopped walking, with just a few more steps to the entrance of the building complex Masaki was staying at, then stared at each other. Sho's mind wandered off again, and he let his thoughts take over his mind for a few moments: From Masaki's smile when he first saw him that day and throughout that evening. He can't help but decide at the end that maybe---just maybe---candies weren't the reason why he agreed in the first place.
Sho's smile widened, then broke the silence between them by saying: "You know, I can't take you seriously when you have that lisp." Masaki laughed, but immediately stopped when Mizuki moved; the two of them were glad that she only adjusted her chin on the man's shoulder and continued sleeping.
"I'm also glad I came along," he blurted out. "I wanted to spend this night with you too,"
"Just Masaki-nii?" The both of them flinched when Koharu moved, rubbing the sleep from her eyes before looking at her babysitters. Sho grinned, shaking his head and then speaking again:
"Of course, Koharu-chan and Mizuki-chan too."
