Summary: Kazunari gets dragged into a horror house by his best friend. And as much as he denies it, he's just not a big fan of horror houses.
Note: Happy Halloween! I actually almost threw this story away, but I again saw the prompt that inspired this so... behold! (Btw couldn't think of a better title lmao that reference. As for the scary effect... I tried.)

"If you're so scared of horror houses, then what the hell are we even doing here?" Kazunari clicked his tongue, trying to look as collected as possible. He and his friend have been queueing-for the past ten minutes already-for the newly-opened horror house at a themepark near them.

It's not that he's scared of horror houses, it's just that he doesn't like it when he's paired with people who scream at the littlest things when inside since it freaks him out. In his case at the moment-Sakurai Sho.

"Come on, it's nice to try new things, Nino," the older male reached for him to ruffle his hair. Kazunari ducked and tried moving away from his friend; but to his dismay, he was trapped between Sho and a few highschool girls standing behind them. He flashed an apologetic smile to the girl he accidentally bumped into, then glared at a chuckling Sho.

"You're just scared," Kazunari scoffed at his friend's words then moved forward as the line does. He answered, in his usual mocking tone, that Sho's the one who's scared, not him.

He stepped to the side a bit, looking ahead at the familiar heads just a few feet away from where they were. "You're just doing this because of Matsumoto!"

"Wha-I am n-what are you-no!" Sho gently pushed him, but because he was moving closer to his side, he almost fell. Luckily the latter got hold of him before he did or else the barrier would have fallen. There were giggles from behind them. "I'm not like that, you know?"

"Shut up," Kazunari grumbled, feeling more pissed off now than scared.

"Ninomiya!" His head shot up and he noticed how it surprised Sho as well; he moved a bit to look at the person who called out to him, and there he saw Ohno Satoshi, a senpai of his, waving at him, and beside him was Matsumoto Jun. He must have noticed him because of the sudden ruckus in their area of the line. Kazunari waved back, and watched as the other pair talked to the ones behind them before switching places. A few seconds later, they were in front of them.

"Four people per group. Let's go together."

They-well, technically an overly-excited Sho-agreed. Once their "group" was called inside, Kazunari felt his heart beat so much faster than usual (as if he wasn't already nervous when the group in front of them entered) He decided to stick with Satoshi since he knew him better than Jun. This earned a death glare from his friend as they walked further inside. An eerie feeling surrounded them once the employee closed the big door; there was also creepy background music playing.

Kazunari cleared his throat, slowly moving forward with Satoshi in front of him. Out of the four of them, he seems to be the only one who's unfazed with the idea of being inside a horror house. But then again, he shouldn't be scared either.

The sound of Sho and Jun yelling made him wince and walk faster, causing him to bump into his partner. He heard Jun curse and call out for Sho; seconds later Sho came running to where he and Satoshi were at.

"So you're the type to leave others behind in times like this," Kazunari was amazed at himself for still joking at such a time, when he can feel his heart almost jump out of his chest. Jun appeared afterwards, and the four of them moved forward again.

Kazunari yelled when something appeared on a mirror beside them as they pass. "Damn it, Sho! Your screams are freaking me out!" Luckily Sho yelled too.

A few minutes later, after passing several rooms filled with jump scares-things suddenly appearing and flying out of nowhere... and Sho and Jun's yelling-they stopped in front of a big door. The four of them stared at it for what felt like hours, and Kazunari tried his best to ignore the change of background music. Everyone except Ohno yelled when a different door (which they knew was locked when they tried opening it earlier) slammed behind them.

"I think that's the part where people get chased," Jun suddenly said, "A friend of mine went here earlier,"

"Scary~," Sho chimed in. "Nino... you go in first,"

"What the hell? No way! You go! You're the one here who wanted to go in the first place,"

"Satoshi-kun should go then!"

Kazunari moved Satoshi away from the door. "No. You go!"

"Jun should go!"

"Hell no!"

"Come on, they're jus-"

A banging sound from behind silenced them. And Satoshi pointed towards something that sent shivers down Kazunari's spine: Someone was approaching them. Sho started panicking and so did he and Jun.

"Ninooooooo!"

"Shut up!"

"Just open the door! That ghost is moving towards us!"

Kazunari pushed Jun closer to the door. "You open it! You're the one who told us that we'll only be chased when we go to the other side!" he glanced behind his shoulder. "Hurry up!"

Jun started sprinting along with Satoshi the moment he opened the door, causing a few ghosts to chase after them. Only Jun's yells can be heard from the other end of the long hallway. Kazunari was, unfortunately, left with Sho. "Damn it, Oh-chan..."

"Ninoooo!"

"Sho, I fucking swear if you cling onto me again, I will punch you," Kazunari shrugged the older male off from his body then speed-walked, doing the best he can to ignore the ghosts crowding him. Halfway through the long hallway, he heard Sho yell again, and when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned-

"Ah!"

Shit, He thought to himself when he heard a different voice cry out. "Sho-chan?"

Kazunari looked down and just as he feared, it was someone else. Sho's screaming can be heard from the other end of the hallway, and that's when he realized... he had punched an employee-one of the ghosts, to be precise. Thankfully (should he be?) the other ghosts, obviously aware of what had just happened, casually moved about the hallway, away from them.

"Shit shit shit," he kept muttering, now crouched down in front of the person. "I'm so sorry," he said in a hushed tone of voice. There wasn't much light there, so he pulled his phone out and used its flash as a source of light. The employee-dressed up as a ghost; wearing shit-ton of special effects makeup to make himself paler and scarier-looked up at him, and squinted because of the sudden light so he moved his phone away.

"It's alright," the other male replied.

"Shit, your nose is bleeding!"

"Eh?!" The employee panicked, causing him to panic as well. He considered asking for help from the other ghosts, but they were so in character, so he pushed that thought away. "Oh no, the make up and costume! Oh no, oh no, oh no,"

"Stop that!" Kazunari snapped, but sounded very nervous. "You're making me nervous-I'm sorry!"

"It's okay!"

"No it isn't!" The both of them stood there, in the middle of the long hallway, panicking. Kazunari can hear someone snickering, but ignored it. "Come with me!"

"I'm not allo-"

The other male didn't get to finish his sentence when Kazunari started dragging him along. The other ghosts just ignored them, which made everything easier.

-

"Wait, so you were really going to punch me?!" Sho gaped at him. He, Sho, Jun and Satoshi were standing outside the themepark's clinic. Inside was the ghost-employee, getting his nose checked. The sight of the man was a bloody mess since he didn't have time to change out of the costume. Kazunari felt even more bad when he saw the purpleish mark on the man's right cheek, just near his nose.

"I can't believe it, you were really going to punch m-"

"Shut up!" Kazunari glared at him but looked down almost immediately. He didn't have the strength to be pissed off at Sho. Moments later the nurse came out and told them that only one of them (more like subtly saying that the one who punched the horror house's employee) can come in now.

"Look, I didn't mean to punch you... I don't punch random people in horror houses!" Kazunari chuckled nervously. "It was meant for my friend and I didn't even mean it to be that ba-"

"It's alright," the person smiled at him, but he can tell that it hurt doing so.

"You shouldn't smile, it hurts doesn't it?"

"A lot, yeah," the male reached for the cold compress and pressed it against his cheek. "But you didn't mean it, so it's alright,"

"...You should change out of that costume," he said, "But hey, you do look scarier now! With all that blood..."

"Don't make me laugh, it hurts!" the man looked away from him. Kazunari felt his cheeks heat up, so he hid it by scratching his cheek and just smiling.

"I'm very sorry," he said after a moment, "I feel bad, I really do. Let me treat you out for a meal! Surely you won't be allowed to work for the rest of the day... I mean-not that I mean that in a bad way-"

"Yeah, our supervisor told me that when you were talking with your friends," he set the compress down again, "It's alright, you don't have to,"

"But I feel ba-"

"You don't have to. Hell, I should be the one to treat you out. You got me out of work,"

"...What?" Kazunari arched an eyebrow, confused. "You're actually happy you got punched and almost bled to death?"

"That's exaggerating it," the other replied, "But if you do insist, sure. As long as it's not because of you, feeling bad,"

They were both silent for a minute.

"Are you seriously asking me out?"

"Well.... erm. No? Yes? I mean-it depends,"

"I'm fine with it, really," Kazunari stepped closer to him, pointing to his bloody costume. "But seriously, the guy who punched you?"

"I don't see why not. You seem nice,"

"You sure have weird taste in people you want to go out with," Kazunari grinned, seeing a shade of red appear on the man's cheek, despite the purpleish mark on one cheek. "By the way I'm Ninomiya Kazunari, also known as the guy who punched you and almost made you bleed to death,"

The other chuckled. "Aiba Masaki, also known as the ghost or guy you punched inside a horror house. And may I say, you have one hell of a punch."
