1.
"Kiss me," Masaki blurted out one afternoon.
"What?"
It took a moment for the man to answer. "...for science."
He and Sho just stared at each other in silence for a few moments, so Masaki decided to laugh it off; saying he was just kidding, then went back to his paperwork.
Masaki thought-for whatever odd reason he had- that it'd work.
2.
It was Christmas Eve, also Masaki's birthday, when he gave it a shot again.
He tugged on Sho's sleeve then held onto his shoulder to keep his balance, as he was already feeling tipsy. "Sho-chan,"
"Yeah?"
"I know what present you should give me!" He grinned; he waved his hand when Sho told him that he already got him a present.
"I want something different," Masaki giggled into his shoulder. "Kiss me... for science."
"For science?"
"Yes. For science."
But before Sho could respond, Masaki was being dragged away by his best friend, Kazunari; saying that it's already so late and that he wants to go home already.
3.
It took him nearly a month to give it a try again. Third time's a charm, he told himself.
It was Sho's birthday and they were at a party, which Masaki threw for him. He sighed to himself as he watched Sho have fun with the guests; chatting, laughing.
"Perhaps I should try a new strategy," he mumbled to himself. He flinched when he felt a hand on his shoulder, a blush appearing on his cheeks when he realized that it was Sho's.
"Sho-chan!" he beamed. "How's it going?"
"Pretty good," Sho replied, grinning. "Thanks for throwing this party for me, Masaki. You didn't have to."
"Well you can always repay me!"
"Really?" the older male arched an eyebrow at this, watching him in amusement. Masaki nodded.
"With a kiss," he started. "...for science!"
Sho started laughing, and so did he.
It was an obvious fail.

"I don't know what else to do," Masaki groaned, hugging his stuffed dog to his chest. Kazunari rolled his eyes as he continued playing on his game console.
"Just do it, you idiot," he said, keeping his eyes on the screen.
"But how?"
"First of all: stop using science as a lame excuse."
5.
Sho invited him to hang out one day. And Masaki decided to take Kazunari's advice and just get on with it. ("If a kiss is what you want, then go get it yourself. Kiss him.")
Masaki was beaming when Sho opened the door, but his smile vanished when he saw the apologetic look on the man's face. He asked what was wrong.
"I have some work to finish. This will be quick. Promise!" Sho said, letting him in.
Sho kept his promise that he'll be quick. But they both decided to just stay in, have a few cans of beer and watch some movies.
"Sho-chan," Masaki looked at him. They were watching their third movie for that day, and he's already on his fifth can of beer. "Hm?"
Masaki set his drink down on the coffee table then turned to face him. "I have a request."
"A request?"
"Un," Masaki nodded. Sho stayed quiet, lifting an eyebrow in question.
"Will you do a science thing..." he was fumbling for his words, and he mentally slapped himself for involving science into this, again. "Like..."
Sho asked him what it was since he was taking so long. Masaki cleared his throat. "Sho-chan, kiss me..." his lips quivered. "for scien-"
But Sho's lips were on his before he could even finish his sentence. And the moment felt so wonderful, yet so quick.
"Science." Masaki finished his sentence after Sho pulled away.
"Science," Sho repeated then smiled at him. "I didn't kiss you for the sake of science, Masaki."
And the knowing look Sho had on while he looked at him, made his heart beat so much faster.
