Ever sit in a room with both a television and radio on at the same time? Or at a party that is crowded and everyone is talking? The noise is just loud enough to be heard, but you can't make out everything that is said.

Sometimes they're louder than others and many times I hear what they say because I want to.

I don't know. It helps to be close distance wise to the target. Or to have some personal knowledge of them.

I don't remember a time when I wasn't. Unless you mean the shielding part; it was a sink or swim situation, so I learned quickly.

Not accepting that I heard everyone's thoughts wasn't going to make it stop happening.

[Of course there are time he does. When it feels like everyone in the world is trying to break into his head or when he starts missing the fact that something he said or thought very well might not be his actual thoughts; but, the silence is even worse.]
