I can understand why friends only would be a good idea, I suppose. But for people like me, who have no LJ because we know that we'd never write in it, it kind of sucks when someone who's writing a really great fic that we've been following goes friends only. But, you know, do what you have to.

First of all, thank you so much for commenting! It's wonderful to hear that you like the story, and that's precisely why I don't really want to go friends only. There's a whole big thing going on that I don't really understand at the moment but I don't really want to change my lj.

And if things do go badly and friends only is looking like the only way to go, if you wanted to keep reading my story, I would certainly send it to you. If you wanted. :)

You know, a lot of people have blank livejournals, mainly so that they can read stuff in friends only communities. I don't know if you've ever considered that?

I know I could just get an LJ and not write in it, but that sort of defeats the entire purpose of a liveJOURNAL, right?

*g* True. Although I guess it could be a lurking journal. There are more than you would think. And maybe you'd get addicted to it. I certainly did!

I'm confused as well. I'm sorting back through all of the entries this weekend (or trying to :P) trying to make some sense of this.

I have kept my journal (and stories) open, as I really enjoy meeting new people. I don't have an incredible amount of time to go browsing around, so I'm all the more pleased when someone finds me. If we all wind up locking all of our journal entries, how will it be possible to get to know new people, even to the point of deciding whether to friend someone?! How will we even be able to share our stories? Without a rec, someone would never find their way in.

I'm tempted to flock my stories, just because each one is a real labor of love, and I would be distraught if it ever wound up stolen, or posted somewhere that I did not want it to be. But of course, the stories are probably what would drive someone to my journal anyway, so ...

I don't know. It is all very confusing. :{

You've got it, exactly. This is the essence of the problem. I don't really understand all of what's going on with it at the moment, but I don't really want to have to go FO. For the exact reasons you stated. Thinking about the people I would probably not have met, or come to know so well, if their ljs had been FO... It's a horrible situation, actually. I wish lj could nix it so it wasn't an issue.

Yeah, me either. Bunch of buggers. But Jassy made a point that really stuck with me. We'd never have met if her lj had been FO. So. I know I already knew you *gwathel hugs and clings* but thinking of the people I might not know now...my life would surely be emptier. *sigh* So. Puzzle.
