Let me count the wrong.
1) An image can't do that from an email
2) an EMAIL can't do that.
3) Shutting down the computer would do nothing.
4) CNN rarely reports virii - I think they've done it twice ever.
5) There is no "Zero Sector" of a HDD. Boot record, yes. First sector, yes. But not Zero Sector.
6) the Snopes article you listed actually has this email as a fake at the bottom. The real one is a downloadable trojan - which is totally different.
