Day One of Year Five

I know I usually get this thing dusted off and ready to go well before November 1st. However, life is kinda chaotic right now and keeping up with everything is kinda difficult. However, starting next week I'll have oodles and oodles of glorious, fantastic time!

I really like the setup of the first two. There's great description in the first excerpt, and a nice amount of tension as we realize what kind of home-life she must have escaped from, and I like how the realization that the boy had wings doesn't feel frightening. Just.... unbelievable. I'm excited to see where it goes.

The dialogue in the second excerpt also felt very natural. There was a good flow to it. Though, for some reason, I'm half expecting that Lucas was abusive, now. (Maybe because of the close proximity to excerpt 1).

The third excerpt is promising, just from the premise (I like dystopias), but there's not as much setup, so no real opinion, yet.

I'll be trying to read along as much as possible. This month is going to be crazy, though, so we'll see how that goes, hmm?

Thanks Jen! Yeah, that third one about the dystopia is just kinda fleeting. I don't expect there to be any read plot or substance to it right now. It's just an idea I'm exploring. It might pan out later on after NaNo.
