Batfic: Waiting

I'm still working on a couple of the other prompts I promised to tackle, but I had the sudden urge to write wee!Dick again and was inspired by a gorgeous, heart-wrenching song ("I'll Just Have to Wait" by Steven Curtis Chapman) used in a video montage of soldiers surprising their loved ones (which made me bawl like a baby), so... this is what came

What a perfect fic. Long enough to convey the weight of the story, short enough not to bog you down in too many details. Love how Alfred worries, calmly and patiently, kinda. And his concerns for Dick are precious. wee!Dick's voice is perfect in this one. The trying to be brave but wilting, the throwing himself into Bruce's arms and NOT letting go! Excellent. Then you have them fall asleep on one another, so sweet!

Oh, this was such a sweet read! I especially loved that little moment of Bruce being worried Dick had been ill, and not realizing that Dick could miss him that much. This is such a beautiful little moment of that time in their lives, you capture all three of them so deftly!
