Shespace/About Face mineral makeup and poll
After a nail biting month (I wrote an email to owner Heather 3 weeks into the order and she replied the next day encouraging me not to panic), my About Face mineral makeup order of USD0.50 samples finally arrived and I've been playing with them. (^_^;;)
Pigment samples included:
The samples come in little ziplock bags with enough loose pigments for several applications, if you don't go disco on a daily basis. And the colours are full of gorgeousness! The website photos are pretty accurate, though they fail to capture the sheens and sparkles some have. The descriptions are a big help, so if you're planning to try them out, read the descriptions.
But since this entry is seriously overdue, I have done a HUGE swatch test to show off these brilliant colours. I'm using my Canon Ixus v3, which is rather old and dodgy now, but... well...
I wasn't kidding when I said HUGE swatch test. I almost ran out of arm.

To be systematic, I decided to show how the colours come across, depending on 4 different applications methods:
For the curious, the nude and black primers are also from About Face.
I have never used loose pigments before, since all my eyeshadow forays have been with pressed palettes (eg. MAC, Maybelline), but they are actually just as simple to use and versatile. And there are Youtube tutorials on these 4 application methods, so I won't bother to go into them.
These photos especially don't do justice to Demon Chatter, Bubble and Burn and Asylum. All three have head-turning twinkle, it's hard to resist them if you're aching for some drama.
But the madness doesn't stop there... (>_<)
Prompted by owner Heather's email notifying everyone that this season's limited range of pigments would be removed around 20 December, I caved in and put in an order for a bunch of 3gm pigment jars.

So my own quad of colours from their Holiday Limited 2008 range consist of:
These won't reach me before Christmas (ha!), but it'll be a nice present to myself when I get back from holidays.

- A damp brush of homemade mixing medium (glycerine + water) - tutorial
- Dry brush
- Dry brush on nude primer
- Dry brush on black primer
