Apparently I have been whinging a weeeeee bit too much about whisking/mixing by hand and oogling a little too hard in the department stores' homeware sections. However we wouldn't be able to afford the KitchenAid stand mixer (and therefore none of the awesome attachments ( Read more... )

Cool! We just bought a hand-held one yesterday cause the one
Dorsey street gave me for my birthday in Brisbane (almost 10 years ago!!!) is soooo freakin loud now and over-heats so badly you can't touch it after 2 mins of mixing! So we got a Braun multimix trio (http://media.htm-gmbh.com/300x300/10125403.jpg) for €64. Not as fancy as the one you guys have now (it is sweet!!) but at least we don't really have to find space for this hand-held one.

We also have one of those (without the dough hooks) as a wedding gift and they are awesome! But I need something a bit more heavy duty to knead doughs for bread and heavier cake batter.

We don't really have the space for this mixer either, but it was buying that or my giving up after 10 mins and Tom having to knead batter for me. At almost half the price of the Kitchenaid one, this one is doing ok so far. I'll see how it does making Anzac cookie batter next.

CONGRATS. A mixer in the kitchen is seriously one of the best investments ever. The one mum bought (hers is a kenwood) is still around and working beautifully today. Life long investments!

And it's very very very worth it for the amazing light fluffy cakes and no shoulder or arm ache to show for it ! (Not to mention, it makes making cakes SO MUCH EASIER)

Hopefully they still make these kitchen appliances the way they did in our parents' day - built to last. Your KitchenAid one is far more drool-worthy.

Yeah those things are steardy as heck, the KitchenAid stand mixer I have is probably quite a bit older than me...maybe 30 years old and still works like a charm although it hasn't been used in a few years...

Sounds like it's time to bring it in, dust it off and give it a whirl! XD

You're making me feel bad about not using my KitchenAid stand mixer lol...I didn't pay for it at least (it's a hand-me down from my mom) but I know how good it is so I should really bring it inside at least!

I'll be the first to admit these things take up a lot of room - an issue when you have a tiny kitchen like mine. But you have it, use it to save your arms!
