I'd rather keep my teeth.

Yesterday I went to my oral surgeons office to discuss the financial matters of extracting my wisdom teeth ($1,320 + $60 for yesterdays visit + $80 for the x-ray!) and he explained the procedure to me (which will happen on October 14th). As it turns out, they will be placing an IV in my left arm. I have never had an IV before. I hate needles. I ( Read more... )

you're getting knocked out though, you go in, lay down, you fall asleep and wake up and walk out. you dont really notice the stitches for a while unless you play with them or something. The most uncomfortable part of it is that you cant really chew stuff for a while so your jaw kinda atrophies and my teeth got all comfortable with the not chewing thing so AFTER i got better my teeth felt nasty and uncomfortable. i JUST had this done so i can tell you, it's really not a big deal. take the pain meds regularly and dont stretch the stitches and you'll be fine.

yeah the IV thing isnt THAT bad. I was kinda scared about it too but the thing is, they put it in and within a minute youre knocked clear out. so even if you're really scared, once its in you wont even know that youre scared anymore.

I'll totally psych myself out beforehand though and probably pass out before it gets close to my arm.

See I was thinking about having John come with me so he can hold my hand, but then I remembered this girl I saw once that had just had hers taken out and her face was puffed up like a fucking chipmonk...I don't know. John will see me looking worse in the future, like when I bear his children and I'm sweaty and bloody and disgusting, but I'll have to think about this wisdom teeth thing for a few days.
