o_O I have never heard of a credit card auto-activating. My Visa always comes with a big stop sticker over the front and requires me to phone them in person. Do you know if someone has been using it? Have you been billed?
I hadn't heard of credit cards auto-activating either. Until this happened to me, I probably wouldn't have believed such a claim. All of my credit cards, including this Chase one, come with big stickers saying that they need to be activated from the registered phone number before being used. Apparently, Chase decided nobody needed to know that "or just wait 60 days" is also a valid condition. I imagine very few Chase customers know or even suspect this. Even their own fraud division didn't know this. Maybe it still doesn't; I wouldn't blame their fraud division for not believing us when we told them.
We've been getting bills as normal because we've been using the old cards regularly, up until they expired on Nov 1 (unless you're asking about the annual fee, in which case, no, we refuse to deal with cards that charge an annual fee). The person on the phone said that there have been no charges against the new cards, so I suspect that they were merely lost in transit.

That, at least, is a bit of comfort... or less stress at least.
Credit card companies have been doing weird, semi-legal things over the last few months. There have been a variety of angry posts on my f-list recently (since spring). Did some sort of new (American) legislation go through recently that affects credit card companies? I wonder if it's related.
