"Hidden Stars"

Dec 01, 2004 00:55

Outside on this cold winter night
the stars do not shine for me.
Their shimmering beauty hidden from my sight
by the bright lights of the city.
But even though they do not shine for me tonight,
somewhere hidden from my eyes they still shine for me to see.

And I suppose that's the reason that they're constantly growing? No, a lot of people still like the cities and 'burbs. That means less people where I want to be. Better for me. Let 'em concentrate their filth in select areas. That leaves space for me to be happy, because this place sure as hell doesn't.

I thought I had a poem that was parallel in some ways to yours. I wrote it a while back and thought you might like to read it too. Here it is:

A roaring camp fire
Leaves crackle ablaze
Stars above
For those to gaze
Another be sired
At the beginning
Lush grounds and misty air
The stars once shown brighter
Before the sky began to tear
Before the ground lights began twinkling
Now they seem to dim
Fade away with our innoccence
As our twinkling lights grow
The balance is amiss
hearts turn grim
For the lights belong in the sky
But man brought them down
Sapped their energy with fire and lightning
To be found
Sad comparisons of those lights in the sky

I know it's not really the same, but your poem reminded me of it. ^^

While it may not be similar in meaning, it uses similar images and is very beautiful. I love it, because it reminds me of camping, which is one of my favorite things to do.
