A goal? Me?

Jan 02, 2013 19:44

For the first time in possibly ever, I made and met a writing goal. Granted, it was basically Finish this story (using whatever definition of "finish" you can force) before you go back to work. And...I did?

Totally awesome, but now I'm pretty sure I got possessed by a demon, instead of Stiles ( Read more... )

teen wolf, writing

I'm trying to watch that show (summer break and too much spare time I don't know how to put to better use) and so far it feels like the internet has lied to me. Or that the fandom version is so much better than what's on my tv.

I have two WIPs that should be easy-ish to wrap up. I'm afraid of ruining the porny one and the Space AU one wants to grow a plot and I don't know how to deal with that. My other WIPs look at me with sad, sad eyes. I have more ideas than skills.

Generally true! What the show is good for, I find, is planting the seed. It can be funny and affecting, but I like it a lot because it give me things to think about/play with.

Would an outline help? I don't always do them but sometimes writing stuff out by hand as fast as possible helps.

That's actually pretty good advice. I never do outlines, but this whole thing of throwing words at an open office file isn't working and I can't pretend otherwise. I should probably go offline, too, and brainwash myself into positive thinking or something.

Offline is a good way to start (and so hard, damn!). Definitely try writing by hand though. I can probably type and write just about equally fast, but since I'm used to typing (and all the built-in editing and finger-chewing) sometimes it helps to go by hand to shake things up. Try it!

I have faith!

Yo, the best goals are the nebulous goals. Easy to fulfill and easy to dodge!

I should probably get write more tattooed on me though. Like, eight times. On my face.

On your face, where you wouldn't be able to see it!

Woohoo, well done you! *high fives and cake*

I had had the goal in mind of listening to all of the Doctor Who audio dramas before the convention I'm going to in LA next month, but I think there are more hours of audio than there are hours left until the con, so that's sort of out the window. Beyond that, uhh... I'm drafting the pattern for a badass cardigan (CARDIGANS ARE BADASS NOW OK) and trying to walk 12000 steps a day and I'm psyching myself up to quit my job so I can depart this wretched continent for good and start a farm someplace picturesque with Frazer Hines, if he'll have me.

All I know about Teen Wolf is from tumblr, so Stiles is the one who looks snarky and pretty and is or was tumblr-dating the really intense dude, y/y?

Pretty much, although it's also dumb-funny as hell and sometimes touching.

Yes, these are all things that are good! *jumping up and down happy huggins*

When I have time (read: when I'm well and truly unemployed) I really ought to see what all this Silly Wolf business is all about. *nods*

My goal: get up at 6 am every morning and write for an hour

Good goal! Making time is so damn hard but worth it.
