Late-term abortions are especially taboo because the fetus is closer to term. Recently they were almost completely outlawed by the federal government. He ran one of the few clinics left that does late-term abortions (it talks a bit about that near the end of the article) and he also performed them.

Aye. I think they're only legal now if there's something horribly wrong with the fetus or if continuing the pregnancy would put the woman's life/heath (be it physical or mental) in danger but I'd have to double check.

this is just disgusting, and hypocritical, and i'm pro-life.

I thought it was rather hypocritical myself. Especially that quote from Operation Rescue (they're one of the more violent "pro-life" -- in quotes 'cause they only care about life when it's inside the uterus -- groups and have been tied to several shootings and bombings).
