Ha! I was actually thinking about that again when I heard his inauguration speech yesterday. Some parts were almost normal, but in some he started to sound like a preacher again. I wonder if it was those parts that our Swedish commentators had in mind when they said something like "he had to tone down the academical wordings in the speech to get to the ordinary Americans"?
Speaking of preaching, I was also a little amused that they had thought of including atheists at one point in the speech (and the other main religions, but they forgot buddhists for some reason; not politically important enough group?), and then he went on talking about "god-given promise" and god's calling to make a better world.
I listened to it on the radio, but then I kind of forgot to, uh, listen. And then I forgot to listen to the commentators afterwards, meaning that I remember preciously little from it. So much fail.
Well, they are one nation under God *g* so it's fair that he gets a mention. Hilarious, though, since we are the ones with the whole "national religion" thing going on (oh Lord, the mental image of Stoltenberg making a speech about doing God's work...)
