Hetalia, Christianity, and the freedom of having a polluting vehicle that consumes money and time

The most beautiful part of Hetalia 4 is undoubtedly Joan of Arc's reincarnation, because my atheism only gets gleeful when it hits the religion that forced me into countless hours in the farce of worship that is the Norwegian state church ( Read more... )

On a mildly related note, where have you been watching Hetalia? Because I can only seem to find a handful of episodes since Prussia figuring out Hungary is a girl, and those annoying "A German, and Italian, and a Japanese Man Go Out For Dinner".

Also, I think Baptist hymns are equally inspiring. I used to think as a kid singing "Hallelujah" was supposed to be ... happy, right? Mom would just say, "They're (The members of our church) old, they can't 'sing' like you can."

But every hymn had the same melody, spoken in the same dreary canter, with the same message. Blah.

I got subs from the main comm. Most of them were streams as well as DD. I think they were locked, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find them by going by the tags.

I admit that I in my ignorance thought that Baptism was of a more evangelical flavour than anything with its roots in the Old World. Lutheranism - or at least my local variety of it - at times seems to consider cheer to be a sinful state of living *g*

Baptists aren't quite that bad ...we sort of get a two-part message.

Part one is that as sinners we are un-savable and we better remember it because we are DIRTY FILTHY HATEFUL CREATURES.

Part two is that by acting rightly with the Glory of God in our hearts and minds there may be some hope yet to find forgiveness (Let's be clear that doing good things will NOT save you if you don't believe in scripture). Basically, we should grovel until God himself tells us otherwise.

The thing I do like about Baptism is that its generally accepting of other religions. Oh, Baptists still think Lutherans and Catholics will burn, but it's your own choice and not our place to meddle.

Feh. While I'm not atheist, I'm certainly not any sort of Christian, and I go to church more as a learning opportunity. I figure it's worth knowing what's being taught instead of lashing out against Christianity ignorantly.

I speaks volumes of the futility of state-sanctioned religion and classes on religion and ethics in public school that my knowledge of Christian doctrines is something like that Catholics believe in the Pope and we don't. I've also been taught that salvation only comes to those who confess their faith, but it's mostly enough if you've been christened (thus, it is vitally important that children are christened as early as possible. NOT being christened can lead to all kinds of ominous fates).

I'm nominally a member of the Church of Norway (which never says much), but my religious indifference has been great ever since I was old enough to sit down and figure out that most religions explicitly rule out all others, and usually also different sects of their own as well.

Catholic hymns are boring as well. They're not even music, they don't ryhme ;;. That disturbed me so much when I was a child. /fail latin translation I suppose.

And yeah! Congrats for your car!

Thank you. Even if I feel very ambivalent about the prospect of owning something so expensive *g*

My single experience with a Catholic service was that it was disappointingly similar to the Lutheran ones, music included (well, our hymns are usually translated from German, if anything, and always rhyme. But the melodies, at least)

I don't remember listening to Lutheran hymns, so I can't say. But I guess we can conclude Western Christiannity is bad at songs (can't say for the Orthodoxs!)
