[Background] There are beings that exist and go by the name of Yaka, or "Calamity of the Night". Their abilities far surpass those of humans, at least physically. They can also live for as long as they wish, or perhaps longer than they'd ever want. In exchange for this, the sunlight or any substantial amount of light wounds them.

Matsuri Shihou has lived for a long time, and how she became a Yaka is unknown. Yaka were all once humans, but how and why Matsuri was turned into a Yaka or if she was one of the first Yakas remains a mystery. But because of her inability to go out into the sun, she had to always stay inside a cave by a village. There were two humans that she knew and who accepted her for what she was. Those humans were Yorito and Aono Morimiya. As a Yaka and only able to see the sky from the outside of the cave, Matsuri yearned to see the blue sky for herself. She would never be able to see the blue sky of day but only the pitch black blanket of night. Yorito promised to her that one day, he would help her see the sky.

But tragedy struck as Yorito was killed when a house collapsed on him. His sister, Aono, was terribly upset and dug through the rubble to try to get to him. Shocked and confused from his death, Aono slit her neck one night, so sure that she couldn't live without Yorito. Not wanting to lose both her friends, Matsuri did the first thing that came to mind. She turned Aono into a Yaka as well. Aono was upset with her, since now she couldn't die and Yorito was still dead. But with her new abilities as a Yaka, Aono discovered that she could manipulate paper. She made a fake 'Yorito' and gave him false memories.

Moving ahead hundreds of years in Matsuri's life, she lived alone in a church on the outskirts of a town. On a few trips to get some food from a vending machine, she ran into a boy. Said boy would help her get the vending machine to cooperate and give her the juice she wanted. They met two times this way, not giving any names though. Although on the second time, Matsuri headed back towards the church and was attacked by a strange man. This man held a grude against her and needed her Yaka blood to help his childhood friend. The boy who had helped Matsuri with the vending machines appeared again and gave her the chance to escape from the church. Matsuri fled, with her wounds quickly healing and fell unconscious in a fountain.

Once she woke up she was in the boy's home. She asked him a few questions and once he turned on the lights in his room, she saw that his room was filled with pictures of the blue sky. Her eyes watered and she commented on how beautiful they all looked. She was caught up in the moment until the boy reminded her of what happened at the church, and how confused he was in all this. Matsuri then headed outside and revealed her secret to him, finally introducing herself.

As she asked for his name, she was shocked at the answer. Yorito Morimiya, was his name. Faking a smile as she pushed back old memories, Matsuri continued to say with Yorito as it wasn't safe to go back to the church.

[Personality] Despite all the hardship that has followed her in life, Matsuri is surprisingly easy-going. She follows her gut instinct and has a bad habit of not thinking things through. All she knows is that if she doesn't get her way, she has to try to make it work. Like when vending machines don't give her what she wants? She'll kick it and suffer the injury later when it doesn't work out. And even though she's had all the time to mature and gain wisdom, she's much like any normal girl.

For the most part she's calm, despite being easily embarrassed when she's caught doing something she's not supposed to. But even if she's doing something she's not supposed so, and she believes she's in the right, she'll stand by her decision without much shame. (Like when she was going through Yorito's room to look for his porn stash.) Romantically, she hardly has a problem with anything. She hardly has a sense of decency once she's comfortable with someone and hardly thinks twice about prancing around Yorito's house in only a towel once she's done with her bath. But if she notices that the person she's with is blushing and embarrassed when she's doing something flirtatious, she'd immediately suspect them of being a pervert.

[Specialties/Abilities] > Since she's a Yaka, Matsuri is granted a number of abilities. She can heal at a faster rate than most humans, and in that sense flesh wounds take her only seconds to heal and occasionally minutes if the wound is especially deep. Her physical abilities in general are also well-developed. She's faster than most humans and capable of jumping to great heights, but other than that it's a bit of a mystery of her basic strength and power. Apparently it's not enough to crush a vending machine or at least get her juice out of it.

Each Yaka is also granted a certain special ability. Matsuri can make things decay at will with only a touch. Trees wither and die if she focuses, and it can be assumed the same of all other living things. Although given her personality, Masturi wouldn't try to do any of that to a living person. But the power she is granted comes with a price.

Matsuri can't be in any substantial artificial light or any real sunlight at all. Real sunlight burns her and causes her to decay with the slightest ray. Because of this, she can't go outside during the day. When there are spotlights around and they hit her directly, she suffers the same injuries by at a slightly slower rate. When she's in the light, she can't heal as fast either. But regular lights in a room don't do anything to her.

[Affection] Hahaha, I swear this is half the reason I apped her.

Matsuri herself may do things that can be considered as flirting, and if she's comfortable enough with the person, she has no qualms about walking around their house with only a towel on. She doesn't seem to realize that this is normally considered awkward and not very typical. So anyone she talks to will probably get flustered, and if she notices, she'll immediately suspect them of being a pervert. If she really doesn't like the person, they'll probably get a kick to the stomach. But if she doesn't mind them too much, she'll probably just keep making fun of them and considering them a pervert, perhaps make note of it for future reference.

[Fighting] Others are welcome to pick fights with Matsuri, but she'll probably avoid any serious conflict. She knows that she's powerful and doesn't want to hurt or kill anyone, especially not the latter. She'd let them know that she's a threat and then leave, hoping that they won't bother here again. But if they continued to provoke her and her life was in danger, she would resort to killing. As for herself being injured or killed, she heals at a very quick rate so it's doubted that she'd end up being killed. Unless they make use of her weakness against the sun, she'll keep being immortal.

[Other Facts] Masturi can go out in the daytime when it's raining, the grey clouds block the sky so she doesn't have to worry about sunlight. She also has a thing for tomato juice.
