Given too much time to think, I don't know if it is a good or bad thing I don't write fanfiction.
Death the Kid is OCD and goes into despair over it, also we don't know about his mother (or if he even has a second parent). So I started shipping Shinigami-sama/Chiri where Chiri (Also OCD, like Kid but more on perfection than symmetry) and Itoshiki (Mr. Despair himself) raise Death the Kid for a few years before Kid lives with his real father. If Zetsubou can have a episode about Itoshiki being a detective in the 1980's and his class participates by either being victims or murderers, saying that 'in a past life you were our teacher, right?'. I can probably say it wouldn't be too far out to have the Zetsubou cast in a Soul Eater universe from that, even though they'd have to be in America sometime for what I'm thinking.
In this AU scenario it starts with Itoshiki's class getting ready to graduate soon and the girls are trying harder for their teacher to notice them before they go off to college/full time jobs or otherwise be in a situation were they might miss their chance to be with him. By this time Chiri would be suspected by the police to be a murderer so in an attempt to keep Nozomu to herself, she convinces him to move to America with her. Death City may capture his interest in dieing. Chiri would become a student of Shibusen to feed her murderous intentions legally and help support Nozomu. Of course eventually the class would follow, starting with the stalker girl who is always by Itoshiki's side.
Somewhere between their arrival and when the other girls convince Nozomu to go back to Japan, Chiri would have some sort of relationship with Shinigami-sama, resulting in her becoming pregnant with Death's kid. Not wanting to kill the child, but being horrified by the thought of this breaking her chances with Nozomu, she convinces Itoshiki that she is carrying his child. The other girls become jealous and suspicious of Chiri, but because they had no proof of paternity they could not stop the wedding.
Chiri and Nozomu possibly name the newborn after Nozomu's brother, their doctor, Mikoto Itoshiki. That name can be written to mean Death. Chiri keeps in contact with Shinigami-sama, allowing him to know of his child.
Some years later the girls find out about the real father and Chiri is forced to send Death the Kid overseas to his real father where he would be safer from the resulting battle. Kafuka snaps from the war over Nozomu and kills the survivors of the first bloody battle and then she and Nozomu commit a double suicide. This tragedy is the reason why neither father nor son give any hint of a mother ever being present even though Kid picked up his mother's perfectionist and serious attitude and his fake father's despair, stopping short of the suicide attempts of course.
All the while Chiri was married to Despair, she was also in love with Death.
