Foam templates

After fooling around with cardboard templates, which seemed to work fine at first (no, the wire doesn't get hot enough to burn cardboard), it became apparent that something sturdier is necessary. A day was wasted trying to reinforce edges with aluminum foil. Result: sucks. Made one template out of 3/16 lauan plywood, another one coming tomorrow

I think it is great that you're taking on such a challenging task for the fist time. Just imagine all of the work that inventors like the Wright Brothers had to go through before they had a successfully flying machine.
