I had a lovely walk with my Mum and Dad yesterday, in the Wyre Forest about an hour from their house. It was beautiful at this time of year, all the leaves turning golden. Very muddy though! I got some pretty pictures:
And I watched the first episode of Elementary the other night, and liked it a lot. Lucy Liu is competent and amazing, Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes is clearly a genius but earnest and likeable with it, and from this one episode he and Watson seem to have a good, balanced relationship.
Miller's Holmes doesn't display the contempt for others' opinions that Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes does, and I find that quite a relief. My only concern is that, although the mystery they had to solve and the procedure Holmes used was fascinating, it did not recognisably use any of Arthur Conan Doyle's ideas. Apart from the characters' names, it could have been any police procedural crime drama and there wasn't enough to mark it out as a Sherlock Holmes adaptation. Still, I really liked it, and I hope it'll improve in that area in future.
