There is nothing quite like finding a word you have never ever seen before, but is quite delicious. Anne Fadiman has an article about it in her book Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader, which I of course recommend to all my reader-y friends (you know who you are).

I knew caprine and sibilance (of course, the animal words), but that doesn't mean I didn't run into tons of my own words that I didn't know- recalcitrant, abstemious and I are new friends.

I managed to hit 40 before my boss got pissy that I was nearly double her score and made me do real work
