I totally read this a couple of days ago and didn't have the time to comment, which I'm trying to get better at remembering to do... I'm really not interested in sims 4 myself, because I only use sims 3 for my two legacies and I don't know if I'll start a new one when they're over. But it's fun to watch other people play. The sims look awfully cartoony though. And I wonder if they do act unpaused even though the game is paused because of a glitch? Anyway, I like the new walks and stuff, seems like sims will have more character? Do they still have traits and stuff?
I think it's very cartoony but in a good way, though I'm not a particularly "OMG REALISM GIMME" person like a lot seem to be. I think the graphics are gorgeous, though. Adding walk styles was a great idea...but there's only like two outside of the normal one that aren't downright goofy and/or stupid. The sims definitely do have more character, though. They do still have traits. They have 3 that you pick in CAS, one that comes from their aspiration*, and supposedly there's a ton more you can ~earn~ in-game. Because apparently they made the entire game objective-based. * I think the aspiration trait is earned when they complete the aspiration? You can switch aspirations at any time, completed or not, so all the "earned" traits may only be aspiration rewards. I haven't looked into that yet. If you look at Irynia's trait picture [here], you can see that Foodie, Materialistic, and Geek are her chosen traits - the Quick Learner is her reward trait, hence the grey and white sunburst behind it. It's the same way for reward objects and such in

I do like realism for the sims themselves, but then I'm fairly lenient on that anyway. It's mostly sims with big eyes and also face one type features that annoy me. The graphics DO look good. Is it still easy to do legacy stuff in game do you think? Obviously there's not much CC or (i assume) pose player, but I know the plumbob doesn't seem to disappear. The traits look interesting - I liked the choice in sims 3 but after a while you start wishing you could add your own. Materialistic is pretty cool. I always wanted stubborn too! Anyway, I plan to read your legacy (I used to, but then I got distracted with uni and never caught up) so expect more comments, hopefully later today!
I think it's easy, but I only ever used pose player for very rare posed-non-legacy or staged pictures. The amount of clothing, and the fact that most of it DOESN'T suck, makes up for the lack of CC. I'm dying for some CC hairs, but I know I'm going to get bombarded with adjust shine stuff as soon as they start coming. q.q It's really just the lack of things to do that makes it a little harder - it is a basegame, after all. Yeah, the plumbob won't go away - it's listed in the player guide and everything ever mentioned that headlineeffects would hide it like usual but it's currently only hiding the bubbles.
The traits are quite interesting. There's unique interactions, like I can have Irynia coo over new things I buy and it gives her a big happy moodlet, or she can watch the cooking channel for cooking ideas (I don't know if this actually does anything, I've never used it.)

She looks really cute in the gif where she's eating a potato chip. You can really hear her go "omm nomm"! x)
Floating legs, no thanks. :(
