I cannot understand what led your stepfather, step-uncle and his partner to treat you so horribly. Even thinking about the pain and fear you must have gone to brings tears to my eyes. In a way I think the neighbors' idleness is an even worse crime than the actions of those four creeps. Seriously, is it *that* hard to pick up the phone and call the police?!

I can't understand why men of those ages would be inclined to torture a 3-year-old child. Did it make them feel important? Powerful?

Equally as baffling is the mother's role in this. She HAD to have noticed that something was not right-why didn't she DO something? Or did she even care? It's also difficult to understand why a 34-year-old woman would marry such and obviously immature 17-year-old.

*rubs temple* This case is psychotic. Those men, and the people who watched and did nothing, need some form of help, be it counseling, therapy, or whatever.

I heard Nia lived though. One article I read said she was in the hospital in a "critical but stable" condition.

Sadly, the articles are from Monday. A radio broadcast issued this morning said the doctors were unable to wake her from her coma - she had suffered irreversible brain damage. Poor tyke ( ... )
