I just wanted to highlight this phrase, because it really struck me!
I like this post. It's really in keeping with what I'm focusing on right now, a "liberation theology" orientation toward issues of body size and shape (and of course sexual orientation, gender, ability, age, race, etc... but I'm writing my paper for the class on fat liberation :)
Anyway, your point that we don't stop at the "damn, society is cruel to me! Gawd this sucks, I think I'll go hide in my bed." We say NO, I am going to continue to LIVE. To wear those white ice skates as a straight man. To go swimming, or dare to eat in public *gasp* as a fat woman. We can't stop at pointing out the oppression, we have to be liberated... and work for the liberation of others.
