I always look to international news sources for an outsider's perspective on the way things are going in America. This is a great interview with a Frenchman (who happens to be a Harvard professor) taken from Deutsche Welle's website:

Good article. I think the European anti-American attitudes will continue though, because although they love Obama, at least part of that attitude is rooted in resentment over American hegemony in world affairs and American economic superiority. Not easy for a bunch of countries, who a century ago were Imperialists, to stomach. They just won't be able to assume we're more racist than they are.

Europeans (and Asians) probably would've benefited to some degree more, at least monetarily, under McCain since he's pro-free trade, where Obama isn't (Democrats tend to be protectionist and Obama is no exception). However, the thing these foreigners are going to find out really fast, is that Obama's mandate is set by the people of the US and not the world.
