Eight years ago, or so, our television popped. I mean like a balloon. We were watching it, and the next minute there was a loud noise and BAMF! it was dead. We got a new one shortly after, but never made it to the dump to get rid of it. My father kept insisting that he would fix it up someday. Months went by and it gathered dust in its sad little ( Read more... )

It sounds like you did a great deal of stuff, and I am proud of you. There's nothing worse than cleaning up other people's messes, only to see the messes return, and not even get a "thank you" out of it.

Seriously! I mean, I know it sounds a little petty but sometimes I just need the darn thank you. You know? ;-)

I'm proud of you, too. Also, I can relate totally. Ten years in and I'm STILL working on my dad to take care of his own damned shitty, pissy dogs and the shit and piss they leave all over the house. He's better than he was, yes, but he still likes to sigh loudly every once in a while about how gross the house is and how sick he is of cleaning up dogshit and dogpiss.

Me, I generally ignore him. It's about all you can do, really. But good on you for cleaning the house, and boo on your parents for not appreciating it.

*hugs*

*hugs back*

I'm at the point now where I'm going to ignore them. It felt good having a presentable house, but the knowledge that I can get the house presentable means far more than the knowledge that my parents CAN'T. :-)

See you this weekend - can't wait!!!

muffin... sorry i missed your birthday! hope it was happy and full of no-more-huge-TV merriment.

and i'm sorry you received little appreciation for all that hard work. sometimes people let us down on the kudos front, but it also sounds like you know enough to give yourself kudos for the awesomeness that is YOU! :)

and so hooray for you! someday, when you move out, you will NOT live in a pigsty! congrats!

*hugs* Thanks - it WAS a wonderful birthday.

As far as the lack of appreciation goes.... I'm over it. My parents are who they are, and if I keep letting myself get so down when they act like themselves I'm going to end up in a very deep, very dangerous depression. I expect I'll be out of the house within the next year. That'll be one fabulous, happy move. :-)

my poor Carl-chan...trust me, I understand how innapreciative of your hard work parentals can be...

I hope that things will get better for you.

And I am soooooooooo sorry that I missed your b-day bash. I was on vacation (a much needed one) in Florida.

I'll make it up to you. We can hang out some time and play like, the Buffy the Musical drinking game or something.

I can just imagine that game: Every bum note *do a shot* Every shot of a sad Buffy *do a shot* Every dark, brooding Spike moment *do a shot* Hehehe, we'd be loaded before the first Act is over!!!

And it's totally fine that you weren't at my party - you were in Florida! I knew you wouldn't miss it unless you had something way more important to do - and You always take precedence over Me when it's your sanity on the line.

*hugs* I miss you!
