O. M. G--.

*buries you in hugs and snuggles* *shakes fist at Mandarin* Don't scare your mommy like that! It isn't nice! O_O O_O

I'm so glad he's OK! *more hugs* That has got to be the scariest moment in the world when something like that happens. I hope it never does again! O_O

Yeah, it was Not Fun. I fawned over him for about half an hour before I finally went upstairs and tried to sleep. Note the key word 'tried.'. Justin's new nickname for Mander is Houdini. Fitting, really. I think that was the worst feeling I've ever had that I can remember, seeing him run off into the night... *shudders*

*cuddles* I can't even imagine... nor do I want to. Lilly never even tried to rush the door and *knock on wood* Gabriel hasn't tried in almost 6 months, but I remember when I first brought him home, he would try to dash out on a regular basis. Thank goodness the door to my apartment opens into an enclosed hallway/staircase that leads up to another apartment. The few times he did get out, he just ran up the stairs, then waited for me to come up and get him. I don't even want to imagine how terrified I'd be if he actually got out the front door. O_O

I'm glad he's safe and sound -- even if he did scare you out of a few years of your life. ^_^

You know, it's funny about Gabriel.. When we were at the apartment, our front door also led into a common area. The kitties would occasionally try to squeeze out to investigate this other hidden area of what they saw as an extension of their home. But once we moved into the house, they realized that all the doors opened into the Big Scary Outdoors. None of them have ever tried to dash out, and we regularly come and go through the front door while they're laying in front of it. That's part of why Mandarin's little escapade caught me so off guard. Between him being petrified of being outside, and him never trying to sneak past me to get outside.. yeah. Complete shock. But it's possible that when you get a house, Gabriel will realize the same thing and be not so eager to slip out.

But yes.. the important thing is that he came right back, and he's fine. The little goof is lying next to me on the back of the couch as we speak, the very soul of innocence. Hmf. *hugs*
