You say war doesn't work... but I look around, do you see any slavery? The Civil War sure worked. Do you see a unified Europe murdering every person who doesn't have blond hair and blue eyes or who is Jewish? Oh, wait, World War II worked. Yes, there have been failed wars... BUT, just as many have succeeded and accomplished what they set out to do.
Of course, if you'd rather have a world where blacks are slaves and whites with blue eyes rule the world, then your point of view is perfectly valid. :)
You've mentioned very, very good points. However, my statement was that war does not work because the problem(s) that initiated the war still exist in the end.
The Civil War was actually a continuation of a civil war that took place in England during the mid 1600s. In America, this war was the result of a long series of policy clashes between the North and South, not slavery. Most Northerners did not care enough about slavery to make sacrifices for it, let alone the sacrifice of war. As a matter of fact, racism was as deep rooted in the North as slavery in the South. The Civil War was a clash of elites. Being somewhat of a bickering match between the decedents of English royalty, the war was not started to end slavery, but thankfully, it did start the baby steps towards doing so
