What the hell? You're all supposed to be a bunch of raving nutjobs. You have a field with an unrepentant totalitarian, a preacher-man who knows nothing about the world at large -- Christ, even America's first cyborg with a real shot at the presidency! What's with this crap about coming to your senses and falling in behind McCain?

War! War! War! All other issues are secondary.

A propos of nothing, did you see Mitt Romney bonding with the black people on Monday's Daily Show? It is a wonder anyone can resist his empathic charm.

When does one make the call to go "Off the Grid"? asiajohn January 31 2008, 00:19:06 UTC
The thing is McCain has yet to win a primary by carrying registered and self-identified GOP voters. He's winning primaries by carrying independents (who have skewed to the GOP in recent elections, but don't like all the social conservative nonsense) and in states like Florida and Michigan he's getting an added boost from dems who realize that their primary vote won't yield delegates ( ... )

maybe they're pulling a democratic move and trying to elect the person they think the other side will like best?

If that were the case, everyone have voted for Edwards.

Do you really think that's a big factor motivating democratic primary voters?

As a reply to both you and Josie: I should've said they're pulling a 04 democratic move, because that's what i was intending.

But now that you mention, I don't think it's as much of an issue this election, because there are several strong candidates (again, my opinion, I realize that not everyone thinks so), but I do think that's a factor in moving people away from Hillary, at least initially. On this board, even, and amongst others I know at Penn State I heard a lot of talk about how "Hillary is so polarizing" and that no independents will vote for her, etc. I remember getting into an argument with Marissa because she had said something about that, and I think that anyone who choses a candidate based on that is shooting themselves in the foot. But a "big factor"? No, not at this point. Perhaps at one time, but it's not talked about as much these days.
