So has anyone seen The Eagle? Is it any good? All I know about it is that there is apparently a book as well, but I saw this music video (possible spoilers?) and it looks really good. Worth renting

I really liked it. It was a good action movie, and the story was pretty good. I think it's totally worth renting.

That seems to be the general consensus. I read the book this morning and loved it, so I'm going to go pick it up.

I enjoyed it, and so did my teenagers. It was a bit shallow compared to the book (worth reading: Eagle of the Ninth) but definitely worth seeing.

On all of your recommendations I read the book this morning and liked it a lot. Disappointed that the sequels seem to be about other characters, though. I'm going to pick up the movie next.

Yeah, my 18yo and I petered out on the sequels after a bit. I understand an author wanting to explore different characters, but I tend to get invested in a particular character and when a sequel peels off to follow someone else I tend to lose interest.

I hope you don't mind a lurker chiming in, but this movie has a special place in my heart. It's not the best movie, but it's entertaining, and the acting is pretty solid, and the setting is gorgeous. It's also really, really, ridiculously gay.

So I'd say it's definitely worth a watch, and there's a massive, hilarious pimp post here. Enjoy!

I will also say that there is a scene in which a child is harmed, though it happens offscreen. I'm not sure if that's an issue for you, but I figure it's worth a warning.

Hi, lurker! I don't mind at all. Thanks for the warning. I'm not particularly triggered by violence, but I appreciate the heads-up. Based on the comments I went and read the book this morning and really liked it. Also, the pimp post you linked me to was hilarious and basically made me decide I needed to own that movie.
