Random book recs

I like making book recs, all right? I DO THIS FOR A LIVING, YOU KNOW.

Only in real life I wear pretty clothes and rarely shriek at anyone in capslock, but whatever. Close enough.

If you liked The Hunger Games, check out Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

I'm also fond of The Wizard Hunters by Martha Wells. It's the first in a trilogy and ( Read more... )

PAthrick Rothfuss = YES.

You have convinced me to try reading The Lies Of Locke Lamora again. I started forever ago and quite after a page from purple-ish prose

Also, HAve you read Mistborn? I have heard it is better than Elantris and therefore haven't bothered with the latter. Perhaps I should though.

P.S. HI KELLY! THE LURE OF CAPS IS TOO MUCH FOR ME! YAY BOOKS!

Dude, Lies is so fucking purple, but it's worth it.

I loved Mistborn. It's definitely better written - you can tell he improved dramatically as a writer and really learned from his first book. But I love Elantris anyway. And I loved Sarene! She shows up and is all "So I am a princess and here to do duty to my people, for protecting them is my greatest purpose." And everyone in Elantris is like "Welcome to our huge conspiracy theory! YAY!" and she's just like "Oh, awesome. I hate you guys."

Oh, boo! I was hoping it would tone down after the first chapter or so! Purple prose so hard for me t read! But I'll try. Ditto to elantris.

Yay books! Yay recommendations for me!

This page is being bookmarked SO HARD.

Also, I did not realize Blackout had already been released! I'll have to get my hands on that.

It kind of snuck up on a lot of people, apparently. I saw it at the bookstore and basically lunged at the shelf.

Did I miss a post about how you got your dream job? I've.... kinda been checked-out of everyone else's lives for about 4 to 8 months. Finally getting back into the regular swing of it, though.

Secondly, thank you muchly for the list. I will look for these. I read half of The Mermaid's Madness and couldn't finish it. It's not that it was bad, it's just that I lost interest. And I really wanted it to be good. I quite liked the premise and the cover art, but the writing was rather lack-lustre ( ... )

No dream job, I'm still at the bank, which is nice. I meant BN. Now that I'm on the bookfloor again I mostly spend all day recommending books and telling people how much the Nook rocks.

Hiii! I miss you! We need to catch up!
