The Rainbow Defense: Unbiased Safety in Education

The following is my final research paper for my GSW class. It's somewhat more serious than my fanfiction, honestly, but I hope people will still take it into consideration when reading it. (The few people that check out my journal besides when I cross-link it to a comm. :'P) Hopefully it formats right!

The world of education is a constantly changing one... )

It's a great essay!
During my school years, the very brief part of biology class that was about sex did include some stuff about homosexuality, and I've had openly gay teachers... but it's still not as "normal" as it should be, even here, haha.

Aw, thanks! I worked really hard on it. >w<

It's interesting that you've had openly gay teachers though! I haven't had any in my schooling years. It isn't nearly as accepted here in the USA. Many teachers feel they'd lose their jobs if they came out, which is unfortunate.

It probably depends a lot on the circumstances here, in some schools it's more accepted and less in others... but in general it's probably better than over there. I really hope things change for the better soon.
A gay teacher I had in english was great, he let me skip doing the same exercises as my classmates (since it was a bit simple for me) and I could just sit and write poetry on my own instead, lol. (Then he'd read the poems and we discussed them a bit.) It was great for me with a teacher that didn't have trouble accepting that students are different, even though it wasn't much related to sexuality (poetry isn't gay at all... ahaha... ""orz).

Yeah, me too. Obama recently is working on allowing homosexuals have more rights in terms of seeing their partners while they're in the hospital. Originally that was restricted to spouses and close family, which homosexual couples couldn't claim due to marital rights. But now they can sit with their loved ones in their hospital rooms! I think that's a real step in the right direction.

Haha, that sounds awesome. I've had English teachers like that (though weren't gay as far as I know). It's cool that he would discuss them with you and things too. He sounds like a great teacher!

I also want to ask. Do you think if I scanned a doujin you could translate it for me? I think it's in Japanese and it's not for profit or anything.
